Goodbye January

The super cold weather brought this flicker in to eat suet, but it was nice to finally get a day when I could walk outside.  Maybe February will be better, but the weatherman is calling for snow flurries, and more snow flurries.
Inside the flowers continue to please.

Bird-watching

My favorite comes to eat the suet.  Red-bellied woodpecker.

A non-breeding adult house sparrow.
And a female house sparrow.
Song sparrow
A squirrel without a tail comes to eat the bird seed.

On the Loop Trail

Are these raccoon prints on one of the bridges?
There were four mallards on the pond.
Did you know he had a curl in his tail?
All of a sudden the ducks were side-swiped by this large hawk, which then landed in a nearby tree.  He has his back to me, but that tail is a dead give-away.  This is a first year red-tail hawk.  He got the ducks to squawking, but that is about all.  Maybe he will find a squirrel.

Gone

Gone is the stump from the top of Perimeter Road.
Gone are the stumps from the area near the damaged garage.
Gone are the stumps behind the S cottages, but there are still more at S-3.

Meadow and Wetland

The bee man was here to put wind guards on the hives.
The netting has been removed around the trees in the center of the meadow.
A tree has been removed that was dying.

The string has been removed from over the wetlands.
But the bat box, which is incorrectly placed, has not been removed.

More Birds

More birds at my feeders.  Here is a house finch.
A female and male house finch.
A male cowbird.
I never get tired of seeing the titmouse.
A beautiful red-bellied woodpecker on the suet, but the squirrels demolish the suet when I hang it in the tree and often take the holder as well.

The geo-thermal drill is outside J sections now .
The skaters are inside the lounge area in Abington.

This beautiful camellia is blooming outside in an Abington garden.
This beautiful bouquet is in the Niche in Central.
